Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will visit Serum Institute today

Pune : Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will visit the Serum Institute Pune this (January 22) afternoon. The Chief Minister will visit the site of fire and inspect it. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also interacted with Adar Poonawala, CEO of Serum Institute, yesterday and sought information from him about the fire.

Five people were killed in a fire at the Serum Institute of India building, state health minister Rajesh Tope said. The building where the BCG vaccine for serum was made caught fire around 2 p.m. The fire broke out at the place where the BCG vaccine is made. This is the new plant of the Serum Institute in Manjri area.

“I have spoken to the district collector. The building work was about to start. The fire started and spread due to welding sparks. Now the fire has been extinguished. Five dead bodies have been found in the fire,” said Rajesh Tope.

Rajesh Tope said, “The building where the corona vaccine was manufactured is far from the site. So there is no damage to the vaccine. A police investigation is underway.”
