Changes would be made in party, says BJP State Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule

MUMBAI : NpNews24 Online  – Maharashtra BJP | The BJP has suffered defeat in the recently held polls in the state. The BJP had put everything at stake in the Kasba Peth bypoll but it was not able to retain the seat. The defeat in the Kasba Peth bypoll has sent shock waves in the BJP. Major changes are going to be made in the state executive. The information was given by State BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule and the changes are going to be made in a month. (Maharashtra BJP)

The BJP did not get expected success in the teachers’ and graduates’ constituency elections. The BJP won in the Konkan constituency and had to face defeat in Nagpur, Nashik and Sambhaji Nagar constituency. Later, the bypoll for Kasba Peth and Chinchwad constituencies was held. The BJP had made the Kasba Peth bypoll a prestige issue but could not win the election and lost the constituency which was in its fold for 28 years.

Questions were being raised over BJP’s strategy after these defeats. The state assembly, Lok Sabha and civic elections are slated to be held in the near future. Against this background, the BJP has decided to make changes in its state executive. However, these changes will be shaped by future elections. Bawankule said that the defeat in Kasba Peth bypoll had nothing to do with the changes being planned in the party.

Speaking to a news channel, Bawankule said, “Some changes will be made in the organisation this month. I took over as the state chief of the party six months ago. There was a plan to make changes after touring the state. Changes would be made in some places. Some districts will get new chiefs and in some places, some changes will take place. The changes will take place in one and a half month.”

There is speculation that large-scale changes would be made in the city unit of the party. The party is in the action mode after the defeat in the Kasba Peth bypoll. There is a possibility that the city unit chief of the party may be changed after instructions from the party’s central leadership.
