Chakan corporator arrested with pistol in Ahmednagar

NP NEWS 24 – Sleuths from the local crime branch (LCB) of Ahmednagar district police have arrested two persons including a corporator from Chakan and claimed to have seized a pistol, two live cartridges and a Fortuner SUV, totally worth Rs 20 lakhs.

The arrested corporator has been identified as Rahul Kisan Kandge (36) of Chakan, Khed taluka, Pune district, and his accomplice Ashpaq Mohammad Shaikh (34) of Pimpalgaon.

Police Inspector Dilip Pawar of LCB had received information that persons travelling in the SUV were carrying firearms. Accordingly a checkpost was set up at Nimblak on the Manmad-Ahmednagar road around 2.30 am on Friday. During checking, police recovered the pistol and two live cartridges and also seized their phones. An FIR has been registered against them with MIDC police station for offences under the Arms Act.

According to police, there are already five cases registered with Chakan police station against Kandge.
