BS 4- class vehicles selling will stop from April 2020: SC

NEW DELHI: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- The Supreme Court gives a big decision on the selling of vehicles. As per this decision, The BS-4 class vehicles will not be sold as well as not registered from 1st April 2020 in India. This verdict of the Supreme Court is very important. BS-4 is an emission standard. Earlier, the court banned the sale of BS-3 class vehicles.

Most of the time, you might have gone through this words like BS-2 vehicles, BS- 3 vehicles or BS-4 vehicle’s, but do you know the meaning of such terms/numbers? As these numbers grow ahead which means increasing standards of emission. The higher number means more Eco-friendly vehicle. BS is used to measure the pollution in India. The larger number is written alongside BS, which shows the less pollution emission from that particular vehicle.

Bharat Stage Emission Standards (BSES) is designed by the Government of India. Through this, the air pollutants released by vehicles get measured. And according to that, the vehicle is classified in various categories. These standards were implemented in the year of 2000, for the first time country. The BSES was designed to reduce the pollution caused by the vehicles.

After implementing the Bharat Stage, all the automobile companies have to follow it. In the year of  2010 BS-3 was implemented in the country. After this, BS-4 was implemented in 13 major cities of the country from April 2010. Then,  BS- 4 was implemented from 2017 in the entire nation. As per the government’s announcement of 2016, the BS-6 will be implemented in the whole country instead of BS-5 in 2020.

The air pollution is one of the biggest challenges in front of the whole world. Mostly the people of the metropolitan cities have to face the problems raised by air pollution. And the smoke released from vehicles is the measure cause of Air Pollution. So, The decision taken by Supreme Court is very important, as per environment point of view, which will definitely help to reduce air pollution.
