Bombay High Court: Center and BMC’s stand on door-to-door vaccination disappointing and insensitive

Mumbai : The Bombay High Court on Thursday said that the central government’s stance on the door-to-door vaccination policy is disappointing and insensitive. BMC also has the same opinion. Both are not focused on the elderly and helpless, who cannot go to the vaccination center to get vaccinated.

A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice GS Kulkarni asked the head of the expert team set up to determine the procedure for vaccination of Corona, to suggest to the Central Government in case of door-to-door vaccination. This will enable the central government to take a decision on it. This work should be done before the hearing of the case on June 2.

Do not wait for orders if there is a positive decision on the campaign
If the expert team takes a positive decision to start the campaign, then the campaign should be started without waiting for the court order. Right now, the expert team argues against such a campaign that it will lead to wastage of vaccines in large quantities. Also, arrangements will not be made to see the immediate negative impact on the person to whom the vaccine will be given.

Just after being given the vaccine, the effect is seen by keeping the person waiting for half an hour at the vaccination center itself. The bench said that when vaccination can be done door-to-door in the UK, why not in India?

Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in an affidavit filed in the court, had denied to go door-to-door vaccinations without the central government’s guidelines, on which the court expressed its unhappiness.
