BJP likely to get 22 portfolios, Shiv Sena (BT) 12, NCP (AP) 12
Mumbai: The swearing-in ceremony of the State Cabinet will take place on December 5. It is learnt that the BJP may hold 21-22 portfolios.
A Hindi news channel, quoting sources, reported that the BJP could hold 21-22 ministries, including the State Home Ministry and the Speaker’s post. Discussions for other portfolios would take place later.
The Shiv Sena (BT) may have 11-12 ministers while the NCP (AP) could get 10 berths. Eknath Shinde has demanded 16 portfolios. The channel said that Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar and the Chief Minister will take the oath of office on Azad Maidan on December 5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present.
Likely distribution of portfolios
The report stated that the BJP would retain Home, Revenue, the Legislative Assembly Speaker’s post and the Legislative Council Chairperson’s post. The NCP (AP) may retain Finance while the Shiv Sena (BT) could get the Urban Development. The Winter Session of the Legislature will begin from December 16 in Nagpur.
Prior to that, the three Maha Yuti leaders, Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar will discuss the formula of portfolio distribution in Mumbai.
However, Caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde continued to be under the weather and no meetings could take place on Tuesday (December 3) also.
