BJP leader Ganesh Bidkar’s appointment as house leader in PMC cancelled by Bombay HC

Pune : NpNews24 Online BJP’s corporator Ganesh Bidkar, who is the leader of the house in the Pune Municipal corporation (PMC), has received a jolt from the Bombay High Court which has disqualified him from the post.

 

The plea which was pending for a final hearing since September 20, 2021 was heard and a decision was given on Monday. The HC ruled that Bidkar’s appointment is not according to the civic laws and cancelled his appointment as leader of the house.

 

The BJP which has a majority in the Pune Municipal Corporation with 99 corporators, had given the post of the leader of the house to Bidkar, who is a nominated member.

 

Independent corporator Ravindra Dhangekar had filed a petition in the HC alleging that the appointment had been done in an illegal manner. The final hearing was going to take place on September 20, 2021 but it was pending.

 

The final hearing took place and the HC has ruled that Bidkar’s appointment was illegal. This information was given by Advocate Kapil Rathod, who is Dhangekar’s lawyer.

 

Bidkar said that he had received a copy of the order from the HC. The court has given him two weeks to file an appeal and he is going to approach the Supreme Court.

 

He said as per the court’s order, he will not attend meetings of Pune Smart City company and Atal Behari Medical College and Hospital Trust.
