Banner of ‘This is Dhangekar’ put up in Kolhapur in reply to Chandrakant Patil’s remark

KOLHAPUR : NpNews24 Online  – The BJP suffered a humiliating defeat in the Kasba Peth bypoll. The Kasba Peth constituency was considered a stronghold of BJP. Ravindra Dhangekar of Congress defeated Hemant Rasane of BJP and won the election. Now, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil is being criticised. During the campaign, Patil had tried to belittle Dhangekar by saying ‘Who is Dhangekar?’ Dhangekar’s supporters have put up banners in Pune and the message on the banner is ‘This is Dhangekar’. Now, a similar banner has been also displayed in Kolhapur mocking Patil. The banner has been put up at Kawla Naka area. The message on the banner says ‘This is Dhangekar.’

The BJP and MVA had made Kasba Peth bypoll a prestige issue and many bigwigs from both sides had taken part in the campaign. During the campaign, Chandrakant Patil had made an insulting remark about Dhangekar. Hence, MVA activists have put up banners as an apt reply to Patil’s remark. MVA activists have targeted Patil by saying that the latter calls himself the son of a mill labourer and still makes below the belt remarks.

During the bypoll, the BJP had tried its level best to defeat Dhangekar and organised road shows, campaign meets and corner meetings. CM Shinde and Deputy CM Fadnavis had also taken part in the campaign. During the campaign, Patil had said, “Who is Dhangekar? He cannot compete with us.”
