Attempt to kill Hindu Rashtra Sena’s Tushar Hambir foiled at Sassoon Hospital, cop injured
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime | A group of 3-4 assailants tried to kill Tushar Hambir, an office-bearer of Hindu Rashtra Sena and accused under the MCOCA, with sharp weapons inside the Sassoon General Hospital. However, a policeman on a bandobast resisted the attackers. He was seriously injured in the incident, which took place on Monday at 9.45 pm. This caused a sensation as the undertrial was attacked inside the hospital. (Pune Crime)
Hambir is a history-sheeter from Kalepadal area. He was booked under the MCOCA. Mohsin Sheikh was killed in a riot in Hadapsar in 2012.
Hambir was attacked earlier also at the Yerawada jail, where he is lodged at present. He was admitted to the hospital on August 25 as he was ill.
The armed assailants entered the ward, where jail inmates are treated on Monday night. They tried to attack Hambir. The alert policeman resisted them. However, he was grievously injured. Hambir was saved.
DCP Sagar Patil, Senior PI Pratap Mankar and other senior officers rushed to the hospital after learning about the attack. The police are trying to trace the culprits with the help of CCTV footage.
