Andhra CM appoints uncle on Tirupati temple board

Npnews24 online Amravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appointed his uncle and senior YSRCP leader YV Subba Reddy as the new chairman of Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust board.

TTD is an independent trust that manages the famous hill shrine of Tirupati Venkateswara temple located at Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, and world’s richest Hindu temple.

YV Subba Reddy is expected to take charges on 22 June. TTD chairman holds an important position in Andhra Pradesh. Subba Reddy also won as YSRCP MP in 2014 election from Ongole, Prakasam district.

His appoint comes after the resignation of former TTD chairman Putta Subhakar Redyy, who was appointed by TDP government. In early June, Subba Reddy was at the Centre of a major controversy as many, including several BJP cadres.

 Sources said the newly elected YSR government has also dissolved the Governing Council of the temple and a new management is to be formed within four days.
