Allahu Akbar’ vs ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogan rock on the floor of LS

Npnews24 online: When President of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Asaduddin Owaisi, took oath as the member of the parliament amid chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

He was also greeted with the ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ in the house. Owaisi immediately gave it back and said, “Jai Bheem, Jai Meem, Takbeer AllahuAkbar, Jai Hind.”

Reacting over the “Jai Shri Ram” and “Vande Mataram” slogans being raised in Lok Sabha while he was taking oath as MP, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “It is good that they remember such things when they see me, I hope they will also remember the constitution and deaths of children in Muzaffarpur.”

The chant of Jai Shri Ram was a jibe at West Bengal’s ruling party Trinamool Congress and state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who has been embroiled in a bitter battle with the BJP over who will take control of the political landscape of West Bengal

Previously, Mamata Banerjee had allegedly objected to uttering of the slogan Jai Shri Ram during multiple incidents. An Independent MP from Amravati, Navneet Rana, reacted to the incident and said, “This is not the right place, and temples are there for it. All gods are the same but targeting someone and taking that name, it’s wrong.”
