Ahmedabad : Amid talks of ‘Heritage City’, System fails to maintain 125-years-old Ellisbridge

Ahmedabad : Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has failed to maintain the historic Ellisbridge, which is the identity of this heritage city.

Talks of renovating Ellisbridge have been done for a long time. But still the system does not seem to be getting the time for it. The walkway will be started after the repair of the bridge. There is also talk of setting up a small art gallery here.

A consultant has been appointed by the corporation but repairs to the bridge have not been carried out. It is worth mentioning that Ellisbridge is more than a hundred years old bridge of Ahmedabad. The arched bridge was the first bridge in Ahmedabad. Which was built in 1892. Later in 1997, a new bridge was built on both its sides. Mayor Asit Vora proposed demolition of the bridge but withdrew the decision amid strong opposition.
