After 13 hours, 6 yr old boy rescued from 200 ft borewell

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE: PUNE:     The officials from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully rescued a six-year-old boy who had fallen into a 200 feet deep borewell at Thorandale village, about 72 km from Pune, in Ambegaon taluka of the district, on Wednesday evening.

A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Talegaon, rushed to the spot and began the rescue work around 8 pm. The boy was taken out on Thursday morning after 13 hours of relentless efforts.

The boy Ravi Pandit Bhil, is son of a labourer who was working for the Manchar-Narayangaon road construction there. Before the NDRF team reached, the local police and administration had provided oxygen and the boy is talking.

According to NDRF, they were informed by Ambegaon police station (Pune rural police) that a six year old boy is trapped in a borewell at about 10 feet depth. The total depth of borewell is about 200 feet. One team of NDRF’s 5 Battalion, Pune moved to the incident site and has begun the rescue operation. The boy was provided the oxygen. The NDRF personnel dug a parallel hole. The rescue effort went on for the whole night and finally he was taken out on Thursday morning.
