Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime News | An incident of three youths who were playing colours being assaulted with stones and bricks had taken place. Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr has taken action against notorious criminal Sandip Somnath Shendkar and his aides, who were involved in the crime, under MCOCA. The police commissioner has so far taken action against 21 gangs so far. (Pune Crime News)

Gang leader Sandip Somnath Shendkar (23), Rishi Shivaji Bhagat (29), Sufiyan Bashir Shaikh (19), Altaf Salim Shaikh (19), all residents of Balaji Nagar, Dhankawadi and their two members and a minor boy under MCOCA. The accused brutally assaulted three people with iron rods and seriously injured them. Some locals who had come to rescue the youths were threatened with sharp weapons. Later, the accused displayed weapons and raised slogans and tried to create terror. An FIR has been registered against the accused at the Sahakar Nagar police station under sections 307, 324, 323, 506, 143, 147, 148, 149 of the IPC, Maharashtra Police Act and the Arms Act.

Gang leader Sandip Shendkar with the help of his aides had committed serious crimes like attempt to murder, causing serious injuries, assaulting people, harbouring weapons without licence etc in the limits of Sahakar Nagar, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Kondhwa police stations. Preventive action was taken against him. However, there was no improvement in his behaviour. The accused has repeatedly committed such crimes.

Senior PI Savalaram Salgaonkar had submitted a proposal to include MCOCA charges in the FIR registered against the accused at the Sahakar Nagar police station to Addl CP Rajendra Dahale through DCP Smartana Patil. Addl CP Dahale examined the proposal and gave his approval. Further investigation is being carried out by ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.

The action was taken by a team of officials including Sr PI Savalaram Salgaonkar, API Sameer Shende, PSI Mulani and policemen under the guidance of Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Rajendra Dahale, DCP Smartana Patil and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
