Action against citizens who do not separate wet and dry waste in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri-Chinchwad : NpNews24 Online  –   Pimpri Chinchwad News | The world is facing numerous problems which are adversely affecting the human race. Among them, global temperature rise, sea level rise and increasing plastic waste are some. With a little care, the common man can reduce plastic waste. A key part of this is keeping wet and dry waste separate. But many citizens don’t show enthusiasm to separate wet and dry waste. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will take punitive action against such citizens.

A training workshop was held for the staff of IEC institutes appointed to create awareness among the citizens about cleanliness and waste segregation in Pimpri-Chinchwad at Natsamrat Nilu Phule Rangmandir at Pimple Gurav. Additional Municipal Commissioner Jitendra Wagh gave instructions to civic employees. He said, “Citizens who do not segregate wet and dry waste should be fined. The process of penalising citizens who do not segregate waste despite notices should be speeded up.” Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ajay Charthankar, Coordinator Vinod Jalak, Regional Officer Suchita Pansare and other officials were present.

Jitendra Wagh said, “Various activities are being implemented on behalf of the municipality in accordance with Swachh Survekshan 2023 in the city. However, it has been observed that some citizens still do not segregate waste. Citizens should actively participate in the actual waste segregation campaign and should separate the waste at home while putting it in the garbage van. Garbage should be disposed of in different compartments such as wet, dry, household hazardous, sanitary waste and plastic. The staff accompanying the garbage-car should guide the citizens in this regard. Also, detailed stickers should be placed in such a way that the citizens can clearly see the garbage to be put in different compartments. Citizens who do not separate wet and dry waste should be registered. The process of taking penal action against the citizens who do not separate the waste despite giving instructions should be speeded up.”
