ABVP activists create ruckus on SPPU campus; Allege that university allowed the shooting of obscene rap song on its premises
PUNE : NpNews24 Online – Pune University – SPPU News | ABVP activists staged a demonstration on the SPPU campus to protest against the permission granted for shooting of an obscene rap song on the campus. ABVP activists entered a hall where a meeting was being held and tore the documents. They also broke the window glasses and created a ruckus. The vice chancellor immediately stopped the meeting. The activists staged a demonstration for an hour. (Pune University – SPPU News)
“A few days ago, the shooting of a rap song took place in the university. We are ashamed that the VC is sitting on that chair. When the VC should have acted, he did not take any step. The convocation ceremony has not been held. Even after 70 days have passed, the students’ exams have not been conducted,’’ the activists said.
“We have not damaged anything and we have staged the agitation in a constitutional manner,” they said. However, pieces of glass were seen near the hall.
ABVP activists had become very aggressive and senate members tried to quieten them. But they did not listen to them. Some activists shouted slogans inside the hall and this led to more confusion. There were six security guards near the hall but they did not stop them.
The VC said later that a panel had been appointed to probe the matter. A meeting of the panel is being held and it will reach a conclusion in the evening. Two more meetings will be held later and then a decision about the action to be taken will be made. A Marathi television channel has reported about the incident.
