72 people cheated on the pretext of getting a job abroad; 2 held

Pune : A youth was cheated of Rs 1 lakh 66 thousand under the pretext of getting a job abroad. A case has been registered against the Director of a private company at the Viman Nagar police station in this regard.

The accused have been identified as Rakshit Gautambhai Patel (resident of Baroda) and Ruby Kumari Sushilkumar Poddar (resident of Vimannagar). Amit Vijay Sarode (age, resident of Mangalwar Peth) has lodged a complaint at the Viman Nagar Police Station. According to the police, the plaintiff Sarode had registered on a website to get a job abroad. After that, the accused Patel and Poddar contacted Sarode mentioning about job opportunities in Canada. The accused asked Sarode to pay a total of Rs 1 lakh 66,000 for airfare, registration fee, medical check-up, and visa fee.

Sarode was given a fake letter of appointment from the company as well as a fake letter under the Government of Canada. Meanwhile, when asked about the job, the accused started giving vague answers. Sarode then lodged a complaint with the police after it was discovered that he had been cheated. Preliminary investigations have revealed that 72 people, including Sarode and his friend, were cheated on.
