The newly elected MLA of Kasba Peth, Ravindra Dhangekar, has taken potshots at the state government. Dhangekar said that the defeat in the Ksba Peth bypoll had jolted the BJP and hence, the government has taken the decision to give 40 per cent rebate. Dhangekar was addressing a press conference. Dhangekar said, “All of us were raising this issue about rebate in the property tax and we have finally succeeded. A decision to give 40 per cent rebate in property tax was taken in a meeting chaired by CM Eknath Shinde. Since the BJP-Shiv Sena suffered a defeat in the bypoll, Shinde and Fadnavis have started taking decisions.

“There are 10 lakh properties in Pune city and all of them are facing various problems. Since the PMC was collecting property tax from them, I was demanding that they should get a rebate when I was a corporator. Now, I had made the same demand after becoming an MLA. I think we have achieved some success. The Shinde-Fadnavis government took the decision due to the defeat in the Kasba Peth bypolls. I thank the residents of Kasba Peth constituency. I am also going to make a demand in the assembly that like the BMC which has exempted owners of flats of 500 sq foot from paying property tax, the same concession should also be made applicable in Pune. If our demand is not accepted, then I will launch an agitation,” he added.
