New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi suddenly arrived in Ladakh this morning amidst the tension between India and China on LAC. Few people knew about PM Modi’s visit to Leh. People came to know about it when Prime Minister Modi reached Leh on Friday morning. Earlier, only such information was given that Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat is going to Leh.

Modi’s visit is also a message to China that the country stands with the army. Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief MM Narwane are also present on this tour along with PM Modi. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to visit Leh on Friday but it was canceled on Thursday.

There is a situation of deadlock between the troops of India and China in Ladakh for seven weeks on the border. At such a time, this visit of the Prime Minister will give a boost to the soldiers. Prior to the Prime Minister’s visit, Army Chief General MN Narwane visited Ladakh on 23 and 24 June, during which he had a series of meetings with senior Army officers and also visited various areas in East Ladakh.

For the last seven weeks, there has been a standoff between Indian and Chinese troops at several places in eastern Ladakh. At the same time, this tension increased after 20 soldiers of India were martyred in a violent skirmish in the Galwan Valley on 15 June.
