21 Cities of India Among the 30 Most Polluted Cities in the World

New Delhi : According to a report surfaced at the same time as US President Donald Trump in the country’s capital, Delhi (Delhi) tops the most polluted capitals in the world. According to IQ Air Visual’s World Air Quality Report 2019, 21 of India’s 30 most polluted cities in the world are from India. Ghaziabad city adjacent to Delhi is at the top among the most polluted cities in the world. In contrast, Beijing, the capital of neighboring country, has improved air quality in the year 2019. Beijing has dropped out of the list of 200 most polluted cities in the world.

It is reassuring for India that between 2018 and 2019, air pollution has decreased by 20 percent in 98 percent of the country’s cities. Even after this, 6 cities of India are among the top 10 most polluted cities in the world. In November, 2019, some areas of Delhi had to declare Public Health Emergency after the Air Quality Index (AQI) crossed 800.

Improvement in South Asia in 2019 compared to 2018
The situation in South Asia remains poor in terms of air quality. 27 of the 30 most polluted cities in the world are from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan’s Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi are among the top 10 most polluted cities. Bangladesh is among the most polluted countries in the world.

According to AirVisual data, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Middle East are the most affected. There are only 6 cities in these regions in 355 cities of the world, which meet the WHO’s annual goal of air quality. However, South Asia has improved significantly in 2019 compared to 2018.
