Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Monday launched a child helpline ahead of the possible third wave of Covid cases.

PCMC is on guards as experts have predicted a third wave of Covid-19 cases. Since according to experts children are likely to be most affected in the wave, the civic body has made necessary arrangements like purchasing medicine, recruiting doctors and other medical staff, and reserving hospital beds. In addition to it on Monday, the civic body started the Covid-19 child helpline.

The child helpline will be open to all from Monday to Friday between 11 am to 1 pm.

The child helpline will be run for children with the help of experts.

Actress Prajakta Mali was also present on the occasion. She said, “After declining in cases after the first wave most of us took the Corona lightly but later I was tested positive for Covid-19. So now this should not happen. Everybody should be careful. Do not take the Covid-19 lightly. I appeal that everybody should forward these helpline numbers through social networking sites and messaging sites. Calling helpline is important as it is the authentic way to get information.”

Usha alias Maaie Dhore, Mayor, PCMC said, “According to experts children are likely to be most affected in the wave. So to tackle the issues pertaining to it we have been working. Now we have started Covid-19 Child Helpline. Parents should take care of children. They should ask children to follow all the norms. We are preparing the medical facilities.”

PCMC commissioner Rajesh Patil proposed a vote of thanks. He said, “Vaccination is a way of defence against Covid-19. Children and their parents should use the helpline to get clarity on each and every point regarding the Covid-19 and children.”
