Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL) has entered the premium roast and ground coffee segment with the launch of the brand ‘Sonnets by Tata Coffee’. TCPL said in a statement that Tata Coffee is targeting customers seeking a special coffee experience.
It stated that these are microlot coffees that are limited edition offerings and are processed in specific ways at estates. TCPL said, “This launch strengthens Tata Consumer’s product portfolio and forays into the premium coffee segment, which aspires to be a “formidable player” in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) category.”
It further said that TCPL is also foraying into the direct-to-consumer space in the coffee segment as it will be sold online only.
Puneet Das, President (Packaged Beverages) for India and South Asia, TCPL, said, “We aim to influence the coffee culture of India by introducing high quality Arabica coffee beans and making it the choice for the well-travelled global Indian.”
Sonnets is obtained from Tata Coffee plantations in South India.
Microlots are special lots of coffees, selected for their high-quality and unique flavor profiles.
Current offerings include four microlots available in customization at the roast and grind levels and distinctive aroma and flavor profiles.
