Former Maharashtra DGP Subodh Kumar Jaiswal appointed CBI Director
New Delhi : Former Director General of Police Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been appointed as the new Director General of CBI. The post of CBI chief has been vacant for the last several days and finally Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been selected to fill the post.
Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been appointed as the Director of CBI for two years. Subodh Kumar Jaiswal is a 1985 batch police officer. His name has been in the news for the last several days for the post of CBI Director General.
On Monday, a high-level committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had compiled a list of names for the post of CBI director general. The list includes CISF Director General Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, Armed Border Force Director General Kumar Rajesh Chandra and Special Secretary in the Union Home Ministry V.S. S. KY Kaumudi’s name was included.
Who is Subodh Kumar Jaiswal?
Subodh Kumar Jaiswal was earlier the Mumbai Police Commissioner. Subodh Kumar Jaiswal later became the state’s director general of police. Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has also worked at the Center and in RAW. He is a 1985 batch IPS officer. He has worked for RAW and IB for 10 years. Subodh Kumar was also part of the team investigating the 2006 Mumbai bomb blasts.
Prior to the appointment of Subodh Kumar Jaiswal as the Director General of CBI, Additional Director of CBI Praveen Sinha held the post. After the retirement of CBI Director General Rishi Kumar Shukla, the charge was handed over to Praveen Sinha. Now, Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has taken over as the Director General of CBI.
