Elderly couple ends life in Kolhapur
The couple were reportedly fed up with their medical condition
KOLHAPUR: An elderly couple died by suicide after being fed up of their medical conditions on Friday at Akudi in Bhudargad taluka, the police said.
The deceased have been identified as Sadashiv Balu Bhandigare (62) and Surekha Sadashiv Bhandigare (57). Nivruti Bhandigare has lodged a complaint with Bhudargad police in this regard.
Sadashiv Bhandigare was a retired employee of Mauni University.
According to Bhudargad police, Sadashiv Bhandigare and Surekha Bhandigare were ill and on medication for last few days. Tired and frustrated of their condition, the couple died by suicide. Meanwhile, their bodies were found in a barn when their family members searched for them as they were not seen since morning.
Upon getting information about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and conducted preliminary investigation into the matter. Their bodies were taken to Gargoti Rural Hospital for autopsy and later, handed over to relatives later. The couple is survived by two children, a daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
