Four cars collide into each other on Pune-Solapur highway; no casualties reported
Kedgaon (Pune): Four vehicles collided head-on with each other after a tanker hit one of the car from behind on the Pune-Solapur highway at Bhandgaon (Tal. Daund) on Friday (January 22) afternoon. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. The driver escaped by opening the airbag in the most damaged Honda City car.
As lane marking work was going on at Bhandgaon on the highway, one lane was closed and traffic was running from one lane. Vehicles were moving slowly due to speed limit in Bhandgaon. At around 1:15 pm, a gas tanker (KA01AG6951) hit a Honda City car (MH04FF1060) from behind.
The next three cars, including the Honda City, collided with each other due to the speeding tanker. The tanker driver fled after the accident. There were a total of ten to twelve passengers in three cars. Both Honda City and Maruti have been damaged.
Honda City driver Vishnu Prasad Mishra said the tanker was speeding. “As my seat belt was on, the airbags could open and I escaped. The doors did not open due to the impact of the car. The villagers broke the glass and took me out”. Highway traffic police diverted vehicles and smoothened traffic. Yavat police are further investigating the case.
