Schools, Colleges will not be shut: Central Government
New Delhi: A viral message that claimed that the Union Home Ministry has closed schools and colleges with immediate effect has been circulating on social media. The Center gave a clarification that no such order has been issued by the Home Ministry. PIB’s fact check team has said that the claim made on social media is false and that the photos that went viral are fake.
The message that was circulating had screenshots of news channels embedded which created confusion among students, teachers, and parents.
Lockdown rules have been relaxed but many rumors and fake news has been spread across social media. Fake news misreports and created confusion and havoc in society. Plus, fake news gets viral at lightning speed.
Schools and colleges were closed for about eight months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The state government has allowed schools to re-open as per the circumstances. The government has also said that schools should be opened following all Covid-19 protocols. Social distancing, wearing a mask, using a sanitizer should be strictly practiced. Students will be allowed to attend classes on school premises with consent from their parents. If not, they will have an alternative of online classes.
