Pimpri Chinchwad New Year Celebrations: Police apprehend 80 motorists during ‘drink and drive’ crackdown
Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police took action against 80 motorists who were caught during ‘drink and drive’ crackdown on December 31 night while the city welcomed the new year 2021. Besides this, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police also issued challan and took preventive action against 3340 and 55 persons respectively under its jurisdiction on December 31. The traffic police collected a fine amount of Rs 12.78 lakh from 3292 motorists on December 31 night.
The action was taken jointly by all police stations and traffic divisions of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
Under the ‘drink and drive’ crackdown, Nigdi police station took against 19, Alandi police took action against 7, Wakad police against 3 and Chikhali police against 1 person each. The traffic divisions took action against 50 motorists under this crackdown.
In the preventive action undertaken by all police stations, Hinjewadi police took action against 39 persons, Bhosari MIDC police took action against 5, Bhosari police against 3, Dehu Road Shirgaon Chowky and Mhalunge Chowky took action against two persons respectively, and Alandi and Dighi police station against one each.
The challan action was taken against 48 persons at the police station level. Ravet Chowky police issued challan against 20 persons, Bhosari police against 9, Hinjewadi police against 6, Chikhali and Wakad police against 4 each, Chinchwad police against 3 and Bhosari MIDC against 2 persons each. The traffic divisions issued challans against 3292 persons on the night of December 31.
