Pune: Mayor Murlidhar Mohol has clarified that schools in the city will remain closed till December 13. The decision will be reviewed in December month after taking into consideration the situation of Covid-19 cases count and the outbreak.
Mohol said the decision has been taken after discussing the issue with several parents and taking into account the rising cases of Coronavirus infections in the city especially after the Diwali festivities are over.
The state government has allowed schools to reopen for students of class 9 and 10. However, the government has put certain terms and conditions for resuming classes in school. Written consent of parents is mandatory for admitting students into school premises and other precautionary and preventive measures regarding Covid-19 are to be put in place by the school.
The second wave of Covid-19 infections is being witnessed in Delhi, Ahmedabad and other cities in the country. If schools are reopened amidst the rising number of Covid-19 cases, then there is risk of the coronavirus spread increasing in school students.
