New Delhi : There has been a tremendous boom in online shopping amid the Covid-19 epidemic. E-commerce companies sold the same as 22 thousand crores in a 5-day festival sale. This figure is higher than the sales in 2018 and 2019.
Sales of 19.8 thousand crores in 2019
Consulting firm Redseer said on Wednesday that e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Myntra started festival season sales from October 16 to 20. During this period, customers made a purchase of $ 3.1 billion (22 thousand crore). 15.4 crore were sold in the festive sale of 2018 and 19 thousand crore in 2019.
Redseer had estimated sales of one thousand crores. The e-commerce company said that during the festive season sale, 110 orders per second were received on its platform.
Sales estimate of 50 thousand crores
Redseer said that e-commerce companies could bring more sales by Dussehra and Diwali. It is estimated that this year the total festival sale will cross 50 thousand crores, which will be almost double from 28 thousand crores in the same period last year. For this, companies have made special preparations. 1.1 lakh vendors were added to the platform.
Increased demand for local products
Snapdeal says that in 5 days, 80 percent of the total sales on its platform were purchased by the local brand. Only 20% of the customers showed interest in national and international products. Last year, 65 CC customers bought local products. Apart from this, 70% of orders in sales were outside metro cities. The trend of online shopping among consumers is increasing rapidly.
