Pune: Unidentified suspects have damaged and burned at least six bikes parked on the road in Laxmi Nagar area at Yerawada. Police have zeroed in on three suspects allegedly involved in this rampage but their identity has to be ascertained yet. Police officials believe that this is a case of creating panic and fear among local citizens by some local gang members.
resident Somnath Gaikwad (35), a of Laxmi Nagar has filed a complaint in this regard at the Yerawada police station. Police have registered a FIR against unidentified suspects on basis of this complaint.
According to Gaikwad’s complaint, He is a resident of Laxmi Nagar area. Since this area is densely populated most of the citizens park their vehicles on the main road. Meanwhile, on Thursday midnight, some unidentified persons came on their bikes in the area and started damaging the vehicles parked outside on the road. They then burnt six bikes. Two bikes have been damaged beyond repairs.
After local citizens came to know about this rampage, a large crowd had gathered at the spot. Citizens were furious over this incident and demanded that police take immediate action against the suspects. Police teams swung into action and have taken three persons in custody for interrogation. Their role and identity is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, police officials said that the rampage was allegedly done by some local goons who want to create panic and fear amongst citizens to create a perception of their dominance. Police have assured local citizens that the culprits will be nabbed soon. Assistant Police Inspector Nanaware is probing the case further.
