Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on September 8 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team investigating the Sushant Singh case. Earlier, she had faced several rounds of questioning. If Rhea Chakraborty is convicted in this case, then she may have to spend 10 years in jail.
Rhea’s arrest was based on the statements of other accused arrested in the case. The NCB questioned all the accused in the case. Sushant’s manager Samuel Miranda, his housekeeper Dipesh Sawant and Shauvik Chakraborty were questioned about Rhea’s role in the drugs case.
After the arrest, Rhea filed a bail petition before the court, which was heard on September 11. During the hearing, the court said that Rhea cannot be granted bail, as she can destroy the evidence and alert the other accused.
In her plea, Rhea said that she is being implicated in the case and is innocent. Rhea has been booked under various sections of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
