FIR Lodged Against Sonia Gandhi Over Congress Party’s Tweet on PM CARES Fund

New Delhi : An FIR has been lodged against Congress Party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi in Shivamogga, Karnataka on May 11 for a tweet made by the Congress party on PMCARES fund. She has been identified as a social media account handler in the FIR. Allegedly this FIR has been lodged on the charge of giving false information about PM Cares Fund.

According to the news agency ANI, an FIR has been lodged against Sonia Gandhi under sections 153 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (making inflammatory statements intended to incite a riot) and 505 (statements responsible for public nuisance).


Tried to Incite People Against Government
In the complaint made by advocate Praveen KV, it was alleged that the Congress party has made inflammatory statements against the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi through tweet and is trying to incite people against the government. According to the FIR, the Congress party claimed the misuse of the PMCARES fund through tweet on May 11, 2020, making false and baseless allegations.

Congress Described PM CARES Fund as ‘PM CARES Fraud’ – Praveen KV
Praveen KV told news agency ANI on Thursday, ‘On May 11, 2020, a Twitter account of the All India Congress Committee headed by Sonia Gandhi called the PM CARES fund as PM CARES Fraud. It was claimed that PM CARES fund is not being used for public. Praveen KV said that he had collected all the details related to the tweet and account from the Twitter handle and filed a complaint in the case. A preliminary inquiry was then conducted and an FIR was registered in the case.’

Trying to Spread Rumors About the Fund – Praveen KV
Praveen KV said, ‘The tweet also said that the Prime Minister was enjoying foreign trips with this fund. It is clearly a rumor against the Indian government amid corona virus (COVID-19) epidemic. In this regard, I filed a complaint. After the primary questioning, the police have filed an FIR against INC Twitter account head Sonia Gandhi.’
