NPnews24 Online Pune: A 42-year-old woman, who had disappeared on June 22 from Mundhwa, was killed by her Facebook friend, police investigation has uncovered.
The man slaughtered her to plunder her ornaments to reimburse his loans. The arrested accused has been recognised as Anand Nikam (30), who runs a roadside diner in Kalewadi area.
As the lady had not returned even following two days, her 19-year-old child had held up a missing report with Mundhwa police station.
As indicated by police, the accused and the lady had came in contact through Facebook and after that began meeting.
Her relatives also knew about him. She had left home on June 22 saying that she is going to Shirdi. She didn’t return even following two days and her mobile phone was not reachable.
Police propelled a quest for the accused, who had figured out how to escape in the main seven day stretch of July. Afterward, an FIR of kidnapping was filed against him and he was captured on July 10.
Police authorities said that rather than Shirdi, the man had taken the woman to Tamhini Ghat and slaughtered her there and fled with her ornaments, which he needed to pay back his loans.
The accused took police to the spot and her deteriorated body was recouped.
A team driven by Senior Police Inspector Sampatrao Bhosale and Police Sub Inspectors Amol Gawali and Swapnil Patil and their team are investigating the case further.
