Pune Crime Branch raids pubs on weekends

Pune, 16 June 2019 : The Crime Branch of Pune city police have begun crackdown on pubs/hotels for operating without proper licences and beyond time limit.

In the last two days, action has been taken against 14 pubs and hotels in different parts of the city.

The action was taken under guidance of Police Commissioner K Venkatesham, Add CP (crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (crime) Shirish Sardeshpande.

ACP (Crime 2) Bhanupratap Barge said that today in between 00.00 hrs to 02.30 hrs, a team comprising API Ashwini Jagtap, PSI Satish Walke, policemen Sunil Pawar, Shankar Sampate, Sakat, Vishal, Mauli Pawar raided following pubs/hotels,

1. Chaturshingi Police Station – Play Boy Pub at 2.30 am for Dance, lound music and illegal liquer sale. FL-3 of this hotel was in different name. Total 147 bottels worth Rs.3,50,000 seized and case under Liquor Act registered against 3 owners, 2 managers and 3 service boys. Also case under 33(w) of Maharashtra Police Act registered against DJ.

2. Yerwada Police Station – Lord of Drinks Pub was raided for same as above. Total 49 bottels worth Rs. 1,01,635 seized and action as above taken against 1 owner, 1 manager and 3 service men.

3. Bundgarden Police Station.- Action under section 33 (w) of Maharashtra Police Act along with Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) were taken on,

a) 2 BHK Pub
b) Caino Pub
c ) Miller Pub and
d) Botnica.

All cases have been handed over to concered police stations for further action.

Earlier on the night of Friday, Saturday, officials from Crime Branch unit 5 led by Police Inspector Datta Chavan and API Santosh Tasgaonkar took action against eight hotels in the jurisdiction of Hadapsar and Mundhwa police stations.
