2 minor boys drown in east Delhi canal

New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) Two minor boys drowned in a canal in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area, the police said on Saturday.The deceased have been identified as Amit Jha (13) and his cousin Harsh Jha (14). Both the boys lived with their parents in New Ashok Nagar.Amit and Harsh left the home on Thursday evening and were reported missing, the police said.However, the police investigation revealed that the boys had gone at the bank of the canal to occupy a space for Chhatpuja. One of the slipped in the canal while the another jumped in to rescue him.”Another boy who was with them panicked and returned home. He did not tell the exact incident until the family lodged a missing report,” said a senior police officer.The bodies of both the boys were handed over to family on Saturday after autopsy, said a police official.–IANSzaz/rt
