16-year-old drowns in Wainganga river in Chandrapur

 

 

Chandrapur: A 16-year-old boy drowned in the river after his feet slipped at Gondpipri in Chandrapur district on Thursday, March 11, the police informed. The deceased has been identified as Rohit Janardhan Dethe (16) .

 

According to the information received, a group of 10 women and 2 children Gondpipri had gone to the temple on the Wainganga river in Yenbothala by auto to bathe in the river basin on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. At that time Rohit and his friend Shivam Makode (11) were walking on the river bank. Rohit’s leg slipped and he started drowning into the river. Shivam jumped into the water to save Rohit from drowning. At that time, four people from Yenbothla pulled out Shivam and Rohit.

 

Rohit was rushed to a rural hospital in Gondpipri, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. Rohit was studying in class X at Sanjo Convent School here. He was the only child of Janardhan Dethe, an electrical shopkeeper.
