1140 children surgeries by Pune based Govt hospital

Newborn babies are a source of pleasure for their families. So, when they fall sick, the entire family revolves around the baby. Surgery on the baby is a matter of great concern for the parents. Here is a good news for all such concerned parents.

The Paediatric Surgical Team at Sassoon General Hospital, Pune is now equipped to perform more and more complex surgeries. The team comprising of Paediatric Surgeons Dr. Dasmit Singh Khokar and Dr. Minakshi Nalbale-Bhosale has successfully performed surgeries on 1140 needy children suffering from various congenital anomalies in past two years.

‘We are expanding our team & acquiring new instruments so that we serve more needy children and also improve the quality of care being provided’ the duo said. Our especially trained Pediatric Anesthesia Team comprising of Dr. Sanyogita Naik and Dr. Sushama Tandale takes care of the babies during surgery so that we can operate without hassels, they added.

They spoke to our representative on occasion of celebration of third foundation day of separate dedicated Operation theatre for children at Sassoon Hospital today. Their work was highly appreciated by Member of Parliament Anil Shirole who visited Sassoon Hospital on Monday.

Shirole, along with Dean Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, congratulated Paediatric Sugery Department for such achievement as around 1140 needy children has undergone surgeries.

Dr Chandanwale also told about the services offered that BJGMC and Sassoon General Hospital Services offered as Major and Supramajor Surgeries On Children: We perform major & supramajor surgeries on needy children from newborn baby who is day 1 old to children up to 15 years.

Neonatal Surgery: We handle all types of neonatal surgical conditions like imperforate anus, malrotation, examphalos, gastroschisis etc.

Paediatric Thoracic Surgery: Complicated paediatric thoracic problems like trachea-esophageal fistula & congenital diaphragmatic hernia are regularly managed.

Paediatric Urology: Expert urological surgical solutions are provided for cases like posterior urethral valves, vesicouretric reflux, urinary incontinence, hypospadias etc.
